لواشک یکی از خوراکی های اصیل ایرانی و از تنقلات ترش مزه می باشد. نام لواشک از کلمه لواش گرفته شده است، چون به هر چیز پهن و نازک به اصطلاح لواش گفته می شود. لواشک نیز از عصاره پهن شده و خشک شده انواع میوه ها تهیه می شود.
لواشک ها در مزه های ترش و شور از شیره غلیظ شده و قوام آمده میوه های گوشتی تهیه می شود و مزه ترش آن جذابیت خاصی دارد. در ابتدا علت اصلی به وجود آمدن لواشک برای مصرف به عنوان تنقلات نبود، بلکه نوعی روش نگهداری خوراکی ها برای مدت زمان طولانی تر بود. چون در گذشته چیزی به عنوان یخچال و سرد خانه وجود نداشت، به همین دلیل بخش زیادی از میوه ها را به شکل لواشک خشک می کردند تا برای مدت طولانی تری باقی بمانند.
مزه لواشک بسته به ترشی و شیرینی میوه استفاده شده و میزان نمک اضافه شده به آن، متفاوت است. انواع لواشک در مزه های ترش، شیرین، ملس، ترش و شور و … تهیه می شود. لواشک ترش نسبت به دیگر مزه ها محبوبیت بیشتری بین مصرف کننده ها دارد و هر چه لواشک ترش تر باشد، جذاب تر و محبوب تر است.
لواشک جزء تنقلات خاص ایرانی ها می باشد، به خصوص بچه ها علاقه زیادی به انواع لواشک ها دارند.
